One studio looking to bring an impactful RPG experience to players is Gato Salvaje Studio with their upcoming game The Waylanders. This game will be based within two different eras, Celtic and Medieval, with the actions players take in one time period drastically affecting the other. Not only that, but this fantasy RPG is inspired by classics such as Dragon Age: Origins and Baldur’s Gate. So once you choose your class from the 6 basic or 30 advanced options and your characters race from the 5 options there will be, you can expect to end up on quite a unique adventure.
Another aspect of the game lies with the companions. As an integral part of the game, there are multiple companion options to choose from to join you on your journey. They will then give the player the options to be able to talk to their companions in-depth, discover their past, play loyalty missions, and even experience romances with them.
The big announcement that came with the latest cinematic teaser though is the staff added to the team; specifically the writing and music sections. From TellTale’s The Walking Dead, writer Emily Grace Buck has joined up with Fallout: New Vegas credited scriptwriter Chris Avellone (who also worked on upcoming games Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Dying Light 2), Dragon Age: Origins consultant Mike Laidlaw and musician Inon Zur, as well as game director Sergio Prieto. This well-experienced team is working together to bring us a fantastic RPG story to go with the classic party-based gameplay style.
The Waylanders is currently set to launch in Q1 2020 on Steam and seems to have quite the experience waiting for us. Check out the cinematic teaser and let us know what you think of the team they have put together in comments:
