For fans of Limbo and Inside (or anyone who loves excellent indie titles with haunting visuals and memorable gameplay), there’s a new game coming out from SkyBox Labs. Stela will follow a young woman as she traverses a foreboding, dying world. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the puzzle-platformer adventures from Playdead, but Stela exists in a fantasy world possessing a sense of wonder and mystery.
The scope of the story appears broader as the young woman must “survive sweeping environments including mysterious towns, haunting forests, and massive subterranean ruins.” That’s a big stage for narrative, and there appear to be sinister forces at work in opposition to her.
Stela will be available on Xbox One starting October 17th. It will come to the Apple Arcade in the coming weeks, though no specific release date has been announced.
