Warner Bros. Games just dropped an electrifying new gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, showcasing the fierce Takeda Takahashi, the latest DLC fighter set to join the roster. This early access treat for Kombat Pack owners lands on July 23, with everyone else getting in on the action on July 30. But that’s not all – Ferra, a new DLC Kameo Fighter, will also be available on July 23, bringing a fresh set of support moves to the battlefield.
Takeda Takahashi steps into the arena with a backstory as intense as his moves. Raised as a Yakuza, unlike his cousin Kenshi, Takeda thrived in the underworld. Handpicked to eliminate Kenshi and put an end to his rebellion, Takeda found himself mortally wounded. In a desperate bid to save his cousin, Kenshi brought Takeda to the Shirai Ryu. Despite initial resistance and numerous escape attempts, Takeda eventually embraced the Shirai Ryu’s noble mission to protect Earthrealm. He swore to uproot the criminal underworld he once belonged to, only to discover its tangled strength.
The new trailer is a feast for the eyes, showcasing Takeda’s Shirai Ryu-inspired moveset. Watch him wield serrated whips to pull and hurl opponents, unleash explosive kunai projectiles to extend combos, and master teleportation to strike from behind. It's a whirlwind of action that promises to shake up the Mortal Kombat universe.
And for those eager to get a hands-on experience, Takeda and Ferra will make their debut at the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) fighting game tournament in Las Vegas from July 19-21. This exclusive sneak peek will be available for event attendees at the Mortal Kombat 1 booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall.
