Nikon Z8 Firmware 3.00 Brings Major Enhancements

Nikon has announced Firmware Version 3.00 for the Nikon Z 8, introducing several key upgrades designed to enhance creative flexibility and performance.

The update expands the pixel-shift shooting function, making Nikon the first to combine it with focus shift shooting or auto exposure (AE) bracketing. This allows for more detailed, high-quality images in a wider range of lighting conditions.

Support for Flexible Color Picture Control has also been added through Nikon’s NX Studio, giving creators more precise control over color, brightness, and contrast.

Autofocus sees notable improvements, including a new in-camera focus limiter to restrict focus to specific distances, options to select subject types and detection areas, and the ability to focus at maximum aperture in live view.

Additional updates include a 400% zoom magnification option, a new [C15] continuous shooting mode to manage shot counts more easily, and a [FINE] image quality setting for enhanced resolution during High-Speed Frame Capture +.

Firmware Version 3.00 will be available as a free download soon.
