Special delivery with unexpected snacks. Good gaming and gutaches incoming!
Well folks, it's official—the Nintendo Switch 2 has landed with some extra snacks, and it's already making us feel like we've time-traveled into a parallel dimension where handheld consoles are not only powerful but pretty. Right off the bar, the hardware design is sleek and solid, like if the original Switch went to the gym, read a few design books, and finally started moisturizing. It’s still recognizably a Switch, but now it whispers “premium” instead of “plastic toy you left on the couch.” It’s sturdy, balanced, and—dare we say it—elegant enough to make other consoles consider a glow-up.
Ahhhhh… the way it was really meant to be played!
And let’s talk about that screen. Oh, that screen. It's the kind of gorgeous that makes you accidentally walk into walls because you're trying to play while walking. With vibrant colors, razor-sharp resolution, and silky-smooth refresh rates, even though it’s not an OLED display is less a screen and more a tiny window into a better, more colorful universe—one where Mario’s mustache has never looked more heroic or Luigi’s staredowns for that matter. It also helps that the ergonomics are surprisingly great; the new contours cradle your hands like they were designed by people who also have thumbs.
HITMAN looks and plays stunningly well on the Switch 2. Deadly. Beautiful. Bald.
But what good is a snazzy console without games? Luckily, the Switch 2 doesn’t pull a “launch with only Tetris” move. It dropped with a buffet of 20 launch titles, from open-world epics to cozy indie charmers, giving players zero excuses not to dive in. Whether you're breaking blocks, catching critters, or saving the multiverse from mild inconvenience, there's something for every flavor of gamer. First impressions? This isn’t just a solid start—it’s Nintendo kicking in the door and yelling, “We’re back, baby!” I can’t express how amazing some of the games look.
BRAVELY DEFAULT FLYING FAIRY HD Remaster has been a charming and surprising title so far.
Some of our favorite titles we’ve been playing during launch are Hogwart’s Legacy that looks stunning on Switch 2, HITMAN World of Assassination which is also a sight to behold, the incredible Split Fiction, the charming BRAVELY DEFAULT FLYING FAIRY HD Remaster, and of course Mario Kart World. Even though we wish a mainline Zelda, Mario 3D, or Metroid game was ready for launch, there is plenty to see and do so far on Switch 2.
Playing Hogwarts on Switch 2 is almost 2 on how good it looks!
Lastly, I can’t express how smooth and beautiful Mario Kart World has turned out to be. It almost have to be seen to be believed. Can’t wait to dive in more over the coming days.
