It is no surprise that 2017 has been a very successful year for Nintendo. The launch of the Nintendo Switch reignited the public interest of the gaming community to Nintendo after the long dark age of the Wii U. In the latest list of Amazon on the “Best Sellers in Video Games of 2017”, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, tops the list of best selling games.

Looking at the list, seven out of the top 10 best selling video games were published by Nintendo. It just goes to show the massive success Nintendo has gotten from fans last 2017. However, since the Switch’s internal storage is small, people tend to buy Switch games in the physical format than any other console, which can also be a factor on why the list of best selling games was dominated by Nintendo. In terms of console sales on the other hand, the Nintendo Switch (Gray Joy Cons) was Amazon’s best selling video game console, which is expected given that the Switch is still fairly new in the market.
Although Nintendo’s domination of Amazon’s best selling list is an indicator of the huge demand on their products, the company should now focus on keeping the public’s interest by introducing top-notch games as it did last year. Thankfully, Nintendo’s current lineup of games for the Switch has fans excited with Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4, and many others to come this year.
