In preparation for the upcoming ELDEN RING DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, I am sure I’m not alone when trying to decide whether to resume an existing character to face the new content or start fresh to enjoy the whole world again and have a more gradual transition into the said content. In our original review, we called ELDEN RING one of the greatest games ever and after picking it up again recently, those feelings are even more concrete.
My opinion is, if you have time and you haven’t played recently, is to start fresh. The game is even better than at launch with fixes and just overall smoothness. Also, you have over 20 days to get leveled up to the DLC level and can refamiliarize yourself with the world and try a new build as well. It’s crazy how much different the game feels with my new Spellsword build vs my original bleed/magic build at launch.
Either way, ELDEN RING is utterly fantastic and whether you start from scratch or pick up an existing character, I would bet Shadow of the Erdtree will be one of the best DLC’s of all time.
