Publisher Hooded Horse has announced the full release of Eremite Games’ roguelite city-builder Against the Storm, set to release in the fourth quarter of this year.
Currently in Early Access on the Epic Store, Against the Storm presents players with a world caught in eternal rain, with a veneer of civilization clinging on, at least until the next great storm arrives. Taking the role of one of the Viceroys of the Scorched Queen, the player must try and found new settlements in the unforgiving world, keep its inhabitants happy, and rebuild the Smouldering City to its former glory. Doing so requires keeping many delicate balances in order to prevent the fledgling villages from falling apart in the face of the overwhelming odds of the ravaged world.
The player must manage the settlers across four different species; humans, lizards, beavers, and harpies, all of whom have their own skills and preferences towards foods, housing and recreation. Managing the morale of the diverse peoples will allow the settlement to expand, but doing so recklessly might reveal some threats better left undiscovered.
The game boasts 5 different biomes and numerous modifiers to switch up the nature of play, making no ground broken in the weather-beaten world exactly like the last.
Against the Storm is currently available for PC as Early Access via the Epic Store, and the full release will be released on Steam and GOG in Q4 of 2022.
