It has been awhile since we got a solid update on the strange and unique looking indie title Darq from developers Unfold Games. It was originally planned to launch in Q4 of 2018, but now we have an official date of August 15th for its release on Steam. The announcement trailer for the release date is a short one, but dives right into the madness and oddity that this little indie is going to offer.
After I saw the trailer myself I got some heavy vibes from a mix of Little Nightmares and Inside that certainly helped influence the atmosphere. When you check out Darq’s Steam page though you get more than either of those games offered: a summary of the story. You play as a boy named Lloyd who finds himself in a series of lucid dreams, but it isn’t long before he realizes these dreams are nightmares. As his attempts to wake himself up all fail, he learns how to survive the nightmare by bending the laws of physics and manipulating the fluid fabric of the dream world.
Even with knowledge on the story and what exactly is going on, these visuals and overall game style is intriguing. The ambiguity that engulfs games like this is an automatic attention grabber for story lovers and theorists alike. Check out the trailer for yourself and be sure to comment what you think of this strange, soon-to-launch indie title.
