Housemarque and PlayStation arent finished with Returnal just yet! During PlayStation’s State of Play earlier today, it was revealed that Returnal will be getting free DLC with its newest update. It's time to step back into the endless loop of Returnal and this time with a friend!

The Ascension DLC is adding the ability to play the campaign entirely in co-op mode with a friend. Players will be able to host or join other players' sessions to aid Selene’s journey through the cycle. The aiding player will play as a Selene from another timeline and it's up to the two of you to survive the onslaught that Atropos unleashes.

Players will be able to revive one another when one goes down, but at the risk of a lengthy revive time. You will have to make the strategic call to either revive your ally or continue the fight if things get too heated. This is a great addition for players seeking extra help on a particular part of the game. One thing to note, the host player will keep all progress of the journey and the aiding friend will be able to keep logs and xenoglyphs collected as well as increase their Scout Rank.

Finally, the second addition to this free DLC is the endless mode, Tower of Sisyphus. Players will have the ongoing challenge of trying to reach the top of the tower after fighting off waves of enemies. This mode will include a leaderboard as well, so you can track your highest score and see how other Selene’s are handling the challenge. This mode is also set to provide some story tidbits to discover and shed some light on Selene’s past.

The free Ascension DLC update launches on March 22. Returnal is available now for PS5 on the PS Store.
