The virtual world from Eric Chahi expands further with the reveal of Sandbox Mode in Paper Beast. Expected in Q1 of 2020, the game and mode will grant players the freedom to construct their own virtual ecosystem in PlayStation VR.
Creative expression is reflected in the choices of which animals to populate in the emerging world and what environments to cultivate. In Sandbox mode, players shape the world with whatever design they want. The creatures, terrain, and even weather are at their disposal. All in the beautiful universe of Paper Beast.
The in-depth physics engine is on display in the trailer, and players can watch as their creations react to one another in the ever-mutable landscape.
Everything is connected. The creatures will behave differently based on the environment, so any change can affect the whole ecosystem.
Designer Eric Chahi says, “The Sandbox mode is the place for players' creativity and experimentation… For our part, we've discovered a lot of emergent behaviour while playing. I'm sure the gaming community will surprise us!”
Sandbox Mode is just one part of the Paper Beast story, and players will find a lot to explore and uncover as they face environmental puzzles and fascinating wildlife in a beguiling narrative.
The game launches on PlayStation VR in Q1 of 2020.
