Somewhere between the shenanigans of Sims and the empire-building genre comes Sapiens from Majic Jungle, a building sim where players must lead their handful of tribal folks and create a civilization to span the eras. Set to debut during Steam’s Summer Next Fest, players will be able to get their hands dirty creating their new world from June 13th. Designed, developed, and produced solely by David Frampton, this indie gem looks like one to watch out for.
A city builder accessible to newcomers but with plenty of depth for veterans. Assign your sapiens jobs and determine their roles to develop them as the settlement grows with them. It will come down to your decisions on how to manage their mood, build shelters, keep the resources coming, and send them to explore. With an entirely interactive world, from placing each wall or fireplace to harvesting any rock or tree, players will have free reign to engage with their growing civilization as they see fit. Find new resources and send your sapiens to investigate and develop their skills, leading to research breakthroughs that can unlock new items to utilize in the gridless, completely free-form world. Open construction where every item can be placed, and each branch and tree can be removed enables grand designs and a world at your fingertips. Create the perfect prehistoric world for your tribe and give them the skills and tool to become a great civilization.
Set to add extensive mod support upon their Early Access launch through the steam workshop, Sapiens can be wish-listed now on Steam. Be sure to keep an eye out for a demo and more content as Steam Next Fest approaches next month.
Sapiens will release to Steam Early Access later this year. Check out the Early Access trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
