Star Trek: Resurgence has finally revealed a release date for the next installment of the Star Trek franchise. Developed by Dramatic Labs and published by Epic Games, this newest entry promises to live up to the franchise’s deep narrative track record and striking themes of galactic diplomacy and the wonders of space.
The game follows a choice-based dialogue format for telling its story in a third-person point of view. This allows the player to feel truly immersed in the Star Trek universe both through exploration and dialogue as players interact with characters both new and old. From dialogue trees to choice-based interactions, Star Trek: Resurgence has it all for die-hard fans of singleplayer focused games.
The timeline sets the game after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Starfleet is forced to handle a worker uprising that threatens the peace between two alien civilizations. Players will get to experience the story through two protagonists, Jara Rydek and Carter Diaz. Jara Rydek is a part of the diplomatic envoy, along with fan favorite Ambassador Spock, to mediate the rising tensions and cut them off at the source. Carter Diaz, a regular crewman, details the overall story from the perspective of an engineer below deck. Both perspectives will shed an interesting light on how the story unfolds for each character.
Star Trek: Resurgence is scheduled for launch on May 23rd, available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store exclusively.
