The new trailer for Scribblenauts Showdown as been released and it looks to bring the same fun and excitement from the previous titles into a whole new gameplay style. The game itself will feature new party modes with 2-4 player action. According to Steven Chiang, Executive Vice President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the new Scribblenauts "delivers imaginative fun and the humour that Scribblenauts™ fans love with new social elements to challenge friends and family, players of all skill levels will enjoy testing their creativity in the fast-paced, head-to-head party style gameplay.”
In the new showdown mode, players will be able to use their imaginations to propel themselves to victory in the card based strategy game using creative skill. “Wordy” mini-games require players to create the best objects from the Scribblenauts™dictionary to out-play their opponents. The “Speedy” mini-game brings players different challenges that they have to complete before the other players and there is also a board game style map that displays players’ progress through out the game.
In the new versus mode, players can battle it out in over 25 mini games which continuously gets shuffled in for nonstop fun. Similarly in “Sandbox” mode, 1-2 players will be able to complete a series of 8 different levels and earn hidden Starites and achievements.
Finally, we get the inclusion of a character creation system:
“Adding to the family fun, players can either choose, or design, their own original Scribblenaut™ to represent them throughout the game, all drawn in the classic Scribblenauts™ art style. The Scribblenaut™ can be further customised with unique clothing and quirky accessories by earning Starites and completing achievements.”
Being someone who has played almost all of the Scribblenauts games, I’m excited to try this one out. I’ve always wanted to try playing a game that mixes the fun hi-jinx that games like Mario Party deliver, while also including the creativity from Scribblenauts.
The game will be available to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 consoles March 6th. The trailer for the game can be seen below:
