What’s In The Box?
The Secretlab Magnus Pro Desk ships in two massive boxes—just the base model alone. If you opt for any extras like the monitor arm, PC mount, cable management trays, or the desk mat, expect three to four total boxes. It’s a serious shipment, so clear some space and be ready to unbox a small fortress.
Each piece is carefully packed and protected, and just like with the Secretlab Titan Evo chair, all the necessary tools and instructions are included. You won’t need to dig around your garage for an Allen wrench—it’s all in the box. That said, the components are very heavy. If you're thinking about assembling this alone, reconsider. Having someone to help lift and position the parts will make the process far smoother—and safer.
First Impressions & Build Quality
At first glance, the unassembled desk is a bit intimidating. Large steel pieces, thick legs, motorized components—it’s clear this isn’t your average IKEA setup. But once you crack open the instructions, you'll find it’s only a few pages long, and actually quite straightforward. Most of the process is screwing in large bolts and aligning the frame with the desktop.
Once built, the Magnus Pro feels absurdly sturdy. Like, I’m pretty sure I could climb on top of it, hit the raise button, and ride it up like an elevator. The motorized lift is quiet, smooth, and feels more industrial-grade than home office. There’s no flex in the desktop since it's metal rather than your average wood build, no wobble in the legs, and no weak points to speak of. It’s the most solid sit-stand desk I’ve ever used—by a long shot.
Accessories & Aesthetics
Here’s where Secretlab really shines. If you’re debating whether to get the full accessory bundle: do it. Every add-on feels intentionally designed and seamlessly integrated into the desk.
The monitor arm is a beast—it holds my massive curved monitor with zero sag or wobble, and offers great range of motion.
The cable management tray underneath is pure magic. Cables disappear completely, and combined with magnetic cable anchors and routing channels, your setup ends up looking insanely clean.
The PC mount keeps your tower off the ground and out of the way, while also making cable runs easier.
The Magpad (the full-desk magnetic mat) adds a premium surface and prevents scratching—it’s a nice touch both for looks and functionality.
The aesthetics are slick and modern. The clean lines, matte black finish, and subtle RGB lighting integration (if you opt for it) give it a premium, professional look that’s at home in a studio, gaming den, or minimalist office.
Feedback
While fantastic, it’s not perfect. Assembly isn’t overly complicated, but it is precise. Some of the screws require exact alignment or they won’t go in properly—or worse, feel like they’re in but come loose later. Take your time. Rushing the process can lead to frustration, especially if something needs to be disassembled and redone.
A small annoyance: the touch buttons for raising and lowering the desk are very sensitive. I’ve accidentally triggered them just by brushing past the edge. Fortunately, there’s a physical lock switch on the front panel that prevents unintentional adjustments—a thoughtful feature I now use regularly.
The collision detection system deserves praise. If you mount your PC underneath the desk (or have anything else below it), the desk will automatically stop and reverse if it senses an obstruction. I tested this (unintentionally), and it worked perfectly. Nothing got crushed.
Verdict
The Secretlab Magnus Pro is not a budget option—it’s a serious investment. But you absolutely get what you pay for. This isn’t just a desk; it’s a long-term piece of your setup that’s built like a tank, functions flawlessly, and looks amazing.
The only thing keeping it from a perfect score is the semi-tricky DIY assembly. If Secretlab offered a pro installation service, I’d have nothing bad to say.
If you want a sit-stand desk that blends aesthetics, cable management, and brute strength in one sleek package, the Magnus Pro is it. Just don’t try to build it solo—unless you’re secretly part forklift.
