You may remember the announcement of the realistic military shooter, Six Days in Fallujah back in 2009. The game was supposed to take place during the Second Battle for Fallujah which began in 2004 following Al Qaeda’s seizing control of one of Iraq’s major cities. Developed by Atomic Games at the time, the game had apparently shut down due to controversy. The controversy in question was due to the game’s sensitive subject matter because of it being surrounded by real-world events. It was set to be a realistic military shooter, unlike anything gamers had seen before.
Enter Victura, the new publisher who is finally giving Six Days its release! Victura is a publishing and production company founded in 2016 by former Atomic Games CEO Peter Tamte. His mission in starting the company was the chance to bring Six Days to players along with other games that are based on true stories. The publisher along with developer Highwire Games, frontline Marines, and Soldiers who’ve fought in the Battle for Fallujah, are able to build unique technology and game mechanics that give players realistic tactics used in modern combat. This is something we really haven’t seen in video games and really makes me excited to see more. Now that there are a new publisher and new developer, the game is coming back with help from many of the core leadership team behind Halo and Destiny to bring this game to fruition.
Six Days in Fallujah will be releasing on consoles and PC in 2021 but there is no set date for the actual launch. Victura will announce more details about the game in the coming weeks, so stick around for the latest!
