In SLEEP AWAKE you’ll find yourself at the Flat a few times, one of your visits a shadowy figure guides you to your father’s quarters—a multi-level space filled with books, strange devices, and a familiar set of radios. To open the hidden passage inside this room, you’ll need to fully activate the voice-reactive device that responds to Katja’s singing. This guide walks you through every step of the puzzle so you can unlock the secret passage without getting stuck.
How to Unlock the Secret Passage in Father’s Quarters in SLEEP AWAKE
To open the passage, you’ll complete three tasks:
Find all three runes
Tune the radios using those runes
Locate the music tape and activate the singing device
Below are the exact rune locations you’ll need.
Rune Location #1
Head into the library side of the room and look for the tall rolling shelf ladder. Climb all the way to the top. Carved into the wall beside the upper shelves is the first rune. This starts your three-rune sequence.
Rune Location #2
From the library, head up the staircase to the balcony area. Here you’ll find a large globe. Rotate it slowly until the second rune reveals itself etched into its surface. This rune is required to tune the second radio.
Rune Location #3
Stay on the upper level. Turn around from the globe and you should see a desk that overlooks the floor below. On a stack of books sits a small ornate blade. Pick it up—once it unsheathes, you’ll see the third and final rune engraved into the metal. With all three in hand, return to the radios and tune each one to match its corresponding symbol.
Where to Find the Music Tape in Father’s Quarters
Once the radios are tuned correctly, the frequency device will partially activate—one of three steps complete. Now you’ll need the missing music tape.
Walk toward the large musical machine (you don’t need to play it).
Turn around to spot a tape player nearby.
Look for a key sitting close to the musical apparatus.
Take the key to the right side of the room, beneath the staircase.
Unlock the storage locker—it contains the music tape.
Insert the tape into the player, and you’ll be two-thirds finished.
How to Activate the Strange Voice-Reactive Device
With the radios tuned and the tape playing, the strange device near the center of the room will start reacting wildly. Approach and interact with it—Katja will sing, creating the final resonance needed to power the machine.
Once her song completes, the hidden passage will open, allowing you to progress deeper into the mysteries of SLEEP AWAKE.
