Solar Ash, the upcoming game from Hyper Light Drifter developer Heart Machine, has been delayed from its original release date of October 26th, 2021 to December 2nd, 2021. Heart Machine made the announcement on their Twitter page on October 13th, 2021, just a few weeks before the game was set to release.
Solar Ash is a 3D adventure game with a unique traversal system that sees its main character skating across the terrain and zipping through the air to take down larger-than-life bosses. It appears to be a bold departure from the studio’s previous title, Hyper Light Drifter, though little is known about the game’s story at this time.
Heart Machine is most well-known as the developer of the indie adventure Hyper Light Drifter, a pixelated Zelda-like that features challenging exploration and a minimalist approach to storytelling. The game originally released on PC in 2016 before coming to PS4 and Xbox One later that same year. It has since been ported to the Nintendo Switch and iOS devices.
Solar Ash isn’t the first major game delay of the year either, though it is one of the shorter ones. The recently released Far Cry 6 was initially intended to come out at the beginning of the year, and major titles from both Xbox and PlayStation have seen major delays, including Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarök, and Halo Infinite.
Solar Ash will now release on December 2nd, 2021 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
