Splatoon 3 is just winding down from its latest Splatfest competition, but it’s not wasting any time drumming up hype for its next big release. In keeping with the live service model, Splatoon 3 is debuting a new season titled Chill Season 2022, and it’s bringing a host of new content for players to enjoy.
Starting on December 1st, 2022, Chill Season 2022 will add 13 new weapon sets to Splatoon 3, including three brand new weapons in the Charger, Roller, and Shooter archetypes. The other ten weapons will be reprisals from previous games, including a few that feature new support or power weapons.
Chill Season 2022 will also bring two new modes to the game: X Battles and Big Run. X Battles are for the cream of the crop, players who’ve ascended to the upper echelons of the ranked, Anarchy battles. These frenetic matches feature new mechanics and challenges for the most elite players to overcome.

Run is an evolution of the Salmon Run coop mode that appears to be a limited-time event in a similar vein to Splatfests. There’s little info on the mode at the time of this writing, but the first one will take place on the Wahoo World stage and the trailer prominently featured the King Salmonid Cohozuna.
Two stages are also joining the rotating roster in December, including the brand-new stage Brinewater Springs. This idyllic locale features hot springs, jellyfish, and plenty of frenetic action as each team competes for victory. The other map is Flounder Heights, a returning stage from the original Splatoon.
And what would a new season be without a brand new Battle Pass? For Splatoon 3 that means a new catalog with 100 levels of earnable rewards waiting inside. New titles, banners, emotes, card packs, locker decorations, stickers, and gear can all be earned throughout Chill Season. Additionally, each of the shops in the square will have new items on sale, so there are plenty of options to shake up your look.
Chill Season 2022 begins on December 1st, 2022, which gives players just over two weeks to finish up the current season’s catalog. Splatoon 3 is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
