After several months of eager anticipation, Lucid Games finally announced the details of the closed beta for their upcoming racing/shooter game, called Switchblade that will be released on the PlayStation 4 soon. If you’ve signed up and got confirmed for the closed beta, you can get a preview of the game on January 22 when the closed beta begins.
Switchblade will be an arena based vehicular shooter that lets two teams of five players battle it out in a “high-octane combat with an ever-shifting array of strategic choices.” Players can seamlessly switch between armed vehicles, while making strategic choices to beat their opponents. The game will let players chase down an enemy and attack their competitor’s tower, while your teammates support you by switching between healers and artillery.
The game will revolve around winning battles, grabbing loot, and rising through ranks in the e-sports arena. Switchblade will mainly focus on team cooperation and strategy and will include several vehicles with their own unique set of skills. Players can choose the role of support and attack, depending on their team’s dynamics.
In an interview with the PlaystationBlog to promote the upcoming launch of the game, Craig Howard, Creative Director at Lucid Games said that:
“We’ve got so much experience with driving games at our studio, but in a race there’s only ever one winner. We wanted to make a game that more than one person can win, a true team game and one that rewards tactics as much as reactions.”
If you missed the sign ups for the closed beta, Lucid Games is still looking for players to test out Switchblade. You can sign up for the closed beta test by visiting the Switchblade website. Take note that the beta will commence tomorrow so better hurry and sign up fast.
Switchblade is slated for a release sometime in 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and PC. What do you think of the upcoming racing/shooter game? Will you sign up for the beta test for Switchblade?
