Take-Two Boss Talks About GTA 6 Price. Sort Of.

In an interview with Variety, Take-Two Interactive CEO and chairman Strauss Zelnick told the publication a few interesting choice words regarding the price of GTA 6. Variety talks about how $80 is becoming the standard for AAA game prices now and if the upcoming feature release will follow suit. This is the most prominent line from the interview:

“Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we’ve had variable pricing at the company forever. As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we’re highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it.”

In the very verbose response, Strauss Zelnick has basically said that they haven’t yet decided what is a fair price for the product yet.

A few days ago, Microsoft reduced the price of The Outer Worlds 2 and other Microsoft Holiday titles following fan backlash, but many gamers agree that the price of GTA 6 is one that be negotiated.

We can only wait and see on what happens in the future.

With a May 26, 2026 release date, GTA 6 is set to break many records, expectations, and much more.
