Tekken 7 is finally going to be in fighting fans hands June 2nd. The game, which has been teased and previewed for what seems like two years now, looks as though it will officially release in 2017...maybe. I can't help but think there's some doubt in the voice of project lead Katsuhiro Harada as he talks to GameSpot...
"We were trying our best to get the game out at that time, to get it into the hands of users as early as possible."
"Trying our best" sounds a lot like "I really hope we can release the game here..." to me, but it appears there is a good reason behind the delay...
"We saw some titles--some from our own company and some from others--which didn't have a very good launch because of a lack of content, or whatever it was, that caused players to bash the product."
Content is always great, as long as it's not paid DLC at launch. The fighting genre has become the poster child for nickel and dime DLC and if all we're waiting on is for them to add a bunch of content behind a paywall...just release the damn thing already! Hell, the game looked done when I played it almost a year ago at E3!
