Piccolo Studio from Barcelona is a small development team, but they’ve taken on a big theme in the upcoming Arise: A Simple Story. Upon death, the protagonist of the story was burned on a funeral pyre and that is where the story begins. The indie game that was revealed during yesterday’s State of Play broadcast focuses on the afterlife. The old man who has entered this new reality will travel through stunning vistas and haunting environments in his otherworldly quest.
The artwork alone makes Arise: A Simple Story compelling, but this will no doubt be an emotional journey. All of our experiences that bring us happiness and sadness are woven into one long thread that reflects our life. And though the hero finds himself in a state of limbo, his path will take him back through his own life. So the time after death will ultimately reveal more about our lives now.
