As an ongoing series, The King of Fighters XV is a title that fighting game fans have been waiting for. During The Game Awards, the SNK Corporation revealed the game’s release date, along with the unveiling of a new fighter, Krohnen, and an upcoming open beta session. The open beta is set to take place this month while the game launch is set for February 17, 2022, for PC via Steam and Epic Games, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S.
The open beta will be held on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 exclusively and will feature cross-play between both consoles. Participants will be able to face off in both online (casual match, room match) and offline (versus, training, tutorial) modes and will not need a PlayStation Plus subscription to participate. For those that can’t wait to get into the action, or perhaps are just curious about a fighting series they may want to get into, then make space on your PlayStation to participate in the open beta during these times:
PST: Dec. 17 at 7:00pm until Dec. 20 at 06:59am
CET: Dec. 18 at 4:00am until Dec. 20 at 3:59pm
JST: Dec. 18 at 12:00pm until Dec. 20 at 11:59pm
Players who participate in the open beta will be able to fight with Krohnen, Isla, Meitenkun, Antonov, K’, Blue Mary, Ryo Sakazaki, and Terry Bogard. However, when the game fully releases in February, players can expect a full roster with 39 playable fighters to choose from.
