There’s no denying the overall positive effect The Mandalorian has had on the Star Wars fandom — even if the recent movie has divided critics and viewers. And those who really adore the show’s main duo, the eponymous hero and Grogu (lovingly, albeit incorrectly, called “Baby Yoda” by some), may want to keep their eyes on Hot Toys’ new Mandalorian and The Child Sixth Scale Figure (Deluxe Edition). Sideshow sent me a sample of this premium version of the figure to look over for myself, and I’ve got some impressions to share. Spoiler alert: This thing is pretty awesome.
Below is everything that comes with the Mandalorian and The Child Sixth Scale Figure (Deluxe Edition), along with my impressions of the set and whether I think collectors should dish out $320 to add it to their shelves.

Impressions
As expected, the first step required is assembling the figure.
Everything in the box for The Mandalorian and The Child Sixth Scale Figure (Deluxe Edition) is well-packaged with tiers of plastic protection, and it’s all easy to access. The set comes with an instruction booklet, which is a bit cluttered visually but answers some questions about connecting specific pieces. Thankfully, most of the setup is self-explanatory and shouldn’t require any deeper knowledge for most folks anyway.
Once everything is pieced together, The Mandalorian looks majestic and can be adjusted into some pretty rad poses. You can accessorize him (and even the environment) quite a lot, including having him aim his pistol, appear to be flying with his jetpack, or just leaning his rifle back onto his shoulder (my favorite pose).
The quality of his armor is fantastic, too, giving him an exceptionally authentic (and borderline realistic) look, especially from a few feet away. The materials are top-notch, and I suspect they’ll hold up for long-term display. As with any expensive figure, though, I’d recommend placing it in a glass case to reduce dust accumulation. It’s rarely fun to try to clean such intricate figures.
Of course, Grogu is low-key the star here, as he’s always been. Whether you opt to have The Mandalorian hold him close or have him stand nearby, the standard Grogu is an adorable and well-designed figure, too. Meanwhile, the Grogu in the hover pram attaches to the side of the figure base by removing a tiny rock and slotting in a clear column, allowing it to appear like he’s happily hovering nearby. Thanks to the sturdy, detailed sand-based stand, this can end up looking really nice.
I’m a simple man, so I chose to skip using many of the extra accessories in my initial finished setup in favor of a clean, minimalist vibe focused on just displaying the characters. But knowing that I can return to the figure at a later date and toss on The Mandalorian’s flamethrower for a badass action pose is really cool.
Conclusion
Thanks to high-quality materials, a well-designed display base, and no shortage of charm, The Mandalorian and The Child Sixth Scale Figure (Deluxe Edition) is a good buy for folks who really love these two characters. Tons of optional accessories and the attention to detail on his armor make it hard not to be impressed with The Mandalorian’s surprisingly tall, imposing figure. And Grogu continues to be, well, the cutest little guy around.
If you’re loving what you’ve seen of this Mando and Grogu figure set, you can buy it for yourself directly from Sideshow for $320. If you’re also a Spider-Man fan, don’t forget to check out my recent impressions of Hot Toys’ Miles Morales 2020 Suit Sixth Scale Figure as well.
