After five years since the initial announcement of Kingdom Hearts 3, Square Enix just revealed the release date for the game that will be coming for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Unfortunately, Kingdom Hearts 3 will be delayed for a little bit as the game was scheduled for a 2018 release. However, developer Square Enix just confirmed that the latest installment in the franchise will be launched on January 29, 2019. Of course, the game will be released five days earlier in its home country of Japan on January 25.
In a statement on Twitter, Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura apologized to fans for the tiny change with the game’s release.
“We’ve announced the release day for KINGDOM HEARTS III ahead of E3 at the KINGDOM HEARTS Orchestra -World Tour-. I’m sorry that we’re asking for a little more time than initially planned. Please look forward to other information, including a few trailers at E3. Thank you.”
In the end, the slight delay of Kingdom Hearts 3 is probably for the better and shouldn’t be a concern to fans. We’ve all been waiting for this game for five years now, so if the slight movement of the release date would translate to an excellent game, then I’m all for it. For fans who will be attending E3 this year, don’t forget that Square Enix will showcase a playable Kingdom Hearts 3 for players to check out.
