Wreckfest is making its way to the PS5 on June 1st, 2021, using the console’s power to its advantage. The game is being developed by Bugbear Entertainment and published by THQ Nordic. You can already play Wreckfest on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, but this upcoming platform is going to provide the best version of the game yet.
I played Wreckfest myself on the Xbox Game Pass, but don’t just take my word for it. Even our own review shows that this game is a winner, where it received an 8/10. Besides having a good score, it was bound to end up on this next-gen platform. In fact, the game already got an Xbox Series X|S update, so a PlayStation 5 release was inevitable.
Whether you want to play alone or in multiplayer, this game has you covered. The multiplayer features 24 players now, for even more intense carnage on the race tracks.
The next-generation benefits are primarily two-fold: improved graphics and loading. The specific improvements include: dynamic dirt on vehicles, improved shadows, particles, and environment lighting, higher resolution textures, increased amount of foliage, new visual effects for skidmarks, DualSense haptic effects, and much faster loading times.
The game will be available both digitally and physically for $39.99 / € 39.99 / £ 34.99. Owners of Wreckfest on PS4 can upgrade to the enhanced version on PS5 for $9.99 / € 9.99.
With the developers claiming this edition to be the best Wreckfest experience on a console, fans of racing and destruction have something to look forward to this summer! Are you ready to let the mudslinging begin on June 1st? Let’s go!
