As more titles in a series are released, the game’s themselves tend to be upgraded and improved versions of their past titles. At least, that is the idea. Bandai Namco is looking to bring an upgraded combat system for TEKKEN 8 and they are doing that with a number of changes that bring different elements to the game, forming a new “aggressive” combat system.
The trailer above reveals that Nina Williams is bringing back her smooth and deadly fighting style inspired by various martial arts. As a trained assassin, she's also armed with weapons to help defeat her foes in style. Plus, they have completely reworked Nina’s character model for new-generation game platforms. Her moves and techniques are also enhanced, including introducing new abilities to fit with the philosophy of “aggressiveness” in the game’s new combat system.
With the reveal of Nina Williams, the current TEKKEN 8 roster is up to 9 characters. This includes Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Jun Kazama, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, Jack-8, and Lars Alexandersson.
Below is the developer video featuring Katsuhiro Harada, executive director of the TEKKEN Project, and Kohei Ikeda (Nakatsu), chief director of the TEKKEN Project, as they detail the different elements that make up this “aggressive” gameplay philosophy. The video provides the deepest look yet at thrilling enhancements to the combat system which promise to add new depth, weight, and atmosphere to TEKKEN’s signature battles.
TEKKEN 8 doesn’t have a release date yet, but it is planned to release on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
