Developer and publisher Ubisoft revealed the second season of Rainbow Six Siege's year 8, Operation Dread Factor. Operation Dread Factor will come equipped with numerous additions and changes such as; a new operator, a map rework, important gameplay updates, a new permanent playlist, and more!
The new season will welcome a new tactical Defender into action, Fenrir. Fenrir is a Swedish Operator who comes equipped with an MP7 or an SASG-12 with a BAILIFF 410 as a secondary weapon. His unique gadget that he brings to the table is called the F-NATT Dread Mine, a shadowy gadget that releases a Fear Effect gas that will temporarily limit a person's field of view. If used correctly with strategic placement you could really offset an attack or stop a flank before it starts.
The Map rework for Consulate is a complete rebuild on the experience for players. They transformed all floors and sites to make it more balanced and rewarding to play. They made changes to attacker spawns to reduce frustration and increase safety, so there are fewer vulnerable locations outdoors and Attackers can more easily reach the building without getting spawn peaked or rushed out on. With the rework on Consulate, they aim to inspire players to develop new tactics to master their approach.
Along with the map rework and the new Operator, they made some improvements to the shooting range and made it the ultimate testing and training ground for players with the introduction of the new Aiming Lane. This allows you to master any weapon by providing customized training with several target types, movement speeds, distances, and more. There will also be a way to learn your weapon's destruction damage with a new breakable wall. After warming up in Aiming Lane, jump into the now permanent Arcade modes for a handful of quick and unique matches.
Last but not least, the game will be receiving some balancing updates. In this update includes a new gadget, the Observation Blocker. This gadget is designed to be intel denial, the gadget projects a digital barrier blocking the line of sight of the opponent drones. There will also be an improvement to Grim by improving his gadget by allowing his Hives to release their swarm charge quicker.
Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Windows PC. Operation Dread Factor will launch May 30th for all the same consoles. You can watch the Season 2 trailer below!
