Ubisoft just announced partnerships with several different renowned institutions that they will work together with to create an accurate depiction of the history of Baghdad within their upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Mirage for when it launches on October 12th, 2023.
The Assassin’s Creed series has had a mixed history with its historical accuracy and depictions of local cultures, so the news that, in regards to an entry that takes place in Baghdad they have specifically consulted with a variety of prominent historical institutions with their work on Assassin’s Creed Mirage is comforting.
Specifically within the game players will be able to discover a total of sixty-six historical sites, each serving as a portal to valuable insights about the era the game takes place. The Sites will be divided into five categories: Art & Science; Beliefs and Daily Life; Court Life; Economy; and Government. Each entry has been crafted in collaboration with historians and expert advisors and is illustrated by images carefully selected amongst the collections of eminent museums and institutions worldwide, including The David Collection, the Institut du monde arabe (IMA), The Khalili Collections, and the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design.
The Assassins Creed series has always had interesting historical facts available for perusal in its games but they haven’t always been accurate or true to history. Hopefully, this new partnership will lead to creating that much more of a vivid world in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage will be released on October 12th of 2023 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Amazon Luna, and PC via the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store. Pre-orders are available for the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition. Players who pre-order will get an extra mission called The Forty Thieves which revolves around the legend of Ali Baba.
