For those of you who don’t know, Gotham Knights is an upcoming open-world action RPG from Warner Bros. Games and features the Batman Family as players step into the roles of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin, a new guard of trained DC Super Heroes who must rise up as the protectors of Gotham City in the wake of Batman’s death. Players will solve mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history and battle notorious villains in epic confrontations.
Recently, Warner Bros. Games dropped a new behind-the-scenes trailer for Gotham Knights! Aside from what we’ve already seen of Gotham Knights in past trailers, this one includes interviews with members of the Warner Bros. Games Montréal team, as well as an exploration of the comic book inspiration behind the Batman Family characters in Gotham Knights.
The trailer talks about how Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin have been reimagined in this game to deliver realistic combat and a unique story experience. The development team also touches on their efforts to include the interpersonal relationships of the characters and they affect the game's narrative structure. Personally, I can’t wait to see if we can get some relationship drama between Batgirl and Nightwing! Their on-again off-again romance is a classic storyline that I expect to see at least some reference to in the game.
Gotham Knights is scheduled to release worldwide on Oct. 21, 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on PC. Pre-orders will receive the 233 Custom Batcycle Skin at launch, which is based on the vehicle’s first appearance in DC’s Detective Comics #233.
