Autumn is my favorite season because I’m always in awe of the multi-colored leaves dropping from trees, and the sound of rain splashing on the ground. As a gamer though, the abundance of PC Game titles released during the fall makes it even more interesting. Here is a quick preview of three games strategy enthusiasts should look forward too.
Realpolitiks 2
Realpolitiks 2 is the second installment of an interesting real-time grand strategy game where you are the leader of a contemporary country. Diplomacy, espionage, military domination and economic control are just a few of the tactics you can use to expand your borders as you vie for global domination. Developed by Jujubee games and published by 1C Entertainment, RP2 incorporates a brand new combat system which gives you total control over the battlefield. You can choose from 216 countries and see if you can rule for the people or become a despot. Mod support will be available.
Empire of Sin
If you’re more into crime drama, Romero Games will deliver Empire of Sin in the fall, a turn- based strategy game published by Paradox Interactive. The game transports you in the 1920s prohibition-era Chicago where you take the role of an up-and-coming kingpin trying to build a crime empire. Choose your racket, be it casinos, speakeasy’s or union protection as you climb your way to the top. Make and break alliances, bribe cops and trade on the black market. Conflicts will be resolved through turn-based combat. This one looks like a winner.
Iron Harvest
Iron Harvest has been in development for the longest time and funds were raised through a social financing campaign by King Arts games. This game looks exceptional and will play like Company of Heroes with a twist. It takes place in a 1920s alternate reality just after the great war. Dozens of units are available, including “cool” Mechs and heroes. The game will include 20 missions over three campaigns across Europe. Skirmish mode and side-by-side co-op will be offered. The player will have the choice between three factions with over 40 unit types and 9 heroes with unique abilities. This is a real-time strategy game you don’t want to miss.
