Best Early Game Skills to Unlock in The Blood of Dawnwalker

You don’t start off The Blood of Dawnwalker as a powerful vampire with incredible sword-wielding abilities; you have to earn them by unlocking and upgrading skills under the skill tree. While you begin with only Swordmastery skills, you can eventually get Vampirism and Witchcraft skills to enhance your supernatural perks and abilities. If you’re struggling to pick the right options at the start of your journey, here are the best early-game skills to unlock in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Best early Swordmastery skills in The Blood of Dawnwalker

  • Growing Momentum (Perk)

  • Sustained Focus (Perk)

  • Perfect Block (Perk)

  • Dirty Trick (Ability)

  • Artery Strike (Ability)

Once you unlock Stinging Blade which increases your weapon damage, get Growing Momentum soon after. This stacking buff increases your weapon damage with each attack and only resets after you receive damage. After that, Perfect Block is another great Perk as it restores more Stamina and Activation Charge with each Perfect Block. Practicing your blocks early on will serve you well later down the line.

Sustained Focus simply increases the number of Activation Charges you have. It may sound simple, but only you unlock more Active Abilities, it’ll let you perform them more often. Speaking of abilities, Dirty Trick is a great early one to grab. This ability not only stuns and damages a target, but it also rends them vulnerable to other Active Abilities.

You can then perform something like Artery Strike, which is a Critical Attack that has a chance of decapitating your target. The more vulnerable they are to Active Abilities, the better chance you have at decapitation.

Best early Vampirism skills

  • Endless Hunger (Perk)

  • Razor Sharp Claws (Perk)

  • Nourishing Blood (Perk)

  • Piercing Shriek (Ability)

  • Scarlet Shield (Ability)

Under the Vampirism tree, take Endless Hunger as soon as you can. This Perk increases the number of Health Segments you have, which increases your survivability. Then there’s Razor Sharp Claws, which simply increases the Claw Damage you deal.

On top of those, make sure to unlock Nourishing Blood. It lets you restore more health each time you drink blood. When it comes to abilities, Piercing Shriek is great for crowd control as it stuns all enemies in front of you while weakening their defence and attack damage. Also, blocking their attacks reflects the damage back to them, so this ability comes with a lot of bonuses.

Finally, you should eventually unlock Scarlet Shield, which plays hand-in-hand with Endless Hunger. This ability grants you the chance of health regeneration after a successful Block.

Best early Witchcraft skills

  • Unnatural Resilience (Perk)

  • Herbal Remedies I (Perk)

  • Evil Eye (Perk)

  • Life Lock (Ability)

  • Ravenous Flock (Ability)

If you want to dabble in Witchcraft, start with the Unnatural Resilience Perk. It grants you some Armour whenever you have an active Witchcraft Ability, making you a bit more tanky than normal. Herbal Remedies I is also a decent Perk to have, as it increases the duration of consumables measured in time segments. The longer they last, the less amount of consumables you need.

Evil Eye is good to unlock if you plan to unlock Witchcraft Abilities that deal damage, since this Perk increases the damage these abilities deal. Speaking of abilities, try Life Lock, as it blocks oncoming damage and reflects it back to the enemy.

Otherwise, Ravenous Flock is incredibly useful when you’re surrounded by a group of enemies. This is an AoE attack that also stuns the affected targets. Also, when you attack the target, it triggers additional Area Attacks.
