Onimusha: Way of the Sword is CAPCOM’s latest and greatest action-adventure hack-and-slash game on the block. I personally think it’s a great game and automatically worth the price. But that being said, play time is a big factor for whether a game is worth its price or not.
How long does it take to beat Onimusha: Way of the Sword?
The time it takes to beat a game like this largely depends on your still level when it comes to combat heavy games. And the following information is assuming you’re playing it on Combat difficulty rather than Story, because Story difficulty shortens that time considerably.
For the average player playing through the main story for the first time on Combat difficulty, the main story on its own it’ll take around 25 hours with little exploration. This accounts for deaths, figuring out the map, and generally learning the game as you go.. If you’re really good at combat games, die very little, and figure out the map fairly quickly, you could shorten a main story play through to more like 20-22 hours.
If you take your time to explore a little more, like me, you’re looking at more like 30-35 hours depending on how exploring you actually do. But if you’re planning on playing through Carnage difficulty after unlocking it and doing a full completion run with Boss Rematches, collectables, and Drills, you’re looking at a longer playthrough of about 60+ hours.
This is a good sized game, however it’s doable for the average gamer. Like I said in my review, I don’t recommend playing on Story difficulty for the game, but if you’re truly just in it for the story and want to finish this game quickly, you can shave off a decent amount of time and possibly even bring the story down too less than 20 hours — especially if you skip most optional content.
If you’re looking for a combat heavy game that’s even longer, you should check out how long Crimson Moon is.
