Umamusume: Pretty Derby takes famous real Japanese racehorses and reimagines them as anime characters who train, race, and, after major victories, occasionally perform on stage.

The English version finally launched globally in June 2025 on PC and mobile, introducing Western players to a game that had already become a major cultural phenomenon in Japan.
Underneath the anime presentation is a surprisingly involved training simulation.
You develop different attributes, choose races, manage fatigue and events, work with support cards, and try to guide each character through a career based partly on the story of the real racehorse whose name she carries.
Those names include Special Week, Silence Suzuka, Tokai Teio, Oguri Cap, Rice Shower, and Gold Ship.
The game won Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2025 and remains heavily played and actively updated in 2026.
