Following their successful launch in 2019, River City Girls is starting to make its rounds to other consoles. Developers WayForward and publisher Arc System Works recently announced that they will be releasing River City Girls 2 later in 2022, but first, they wanted to hit the next-gen platform. On top of this, players with the current PlayStation 4 version of the game can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version at no extra charge.
If you were interested in jumping into the local co-op, beat-em-up action of the upcoming second title but haven’t played the original yet, then here’s a new opportunity to do so! Experience the initial action that puts players in control of hot-blooded heroines Misako and Kyoko as they fight their way across town in an attempt to rescue their boyfriends, series mainstays Kunio and Riki.
This port marks the third title from WayForward to hit the next-gen console. With it, they have announced that when they do launch River City Girls 2, we can expect to see it on PlayStation 5 along with other platforms. We are still waiting on some more details to be released for the sequel title in respect to an official launch date and platform list, but at least for now, a whole new wave of players can experience the original title that has done well enough already that the developers are continuing the journey!
