Shut Up & Sit Down is one of the most popular board game content creators, and while the day-to-day operations of Quinns, Matt, and newcomer Tom have been altered by the spread of COVID-19, the trio have definitely not lost their love and appreciation for board games.
Tom recently discussed The Quiet Year and Quinns revied some one-player games and card games that people might enjoy in these times of self-isolation.
But today, Matt gave some pointers in a video about Tabletop Simulator, which is special because it highlights an exciting tool at the disposal of gamers—namely, the simulator that allows for remote play of tabletop games that can bring players together no matter where they are located.
Now Tabletop Simulator does function as a standalone physics sandbox with classic games like chess, checkers, backgammon, Go, Mahjong, and a lot more.
The content that tabletop gamers will appreciate the most, though, are the DLCs. Tabletop Simulator has partnered with developers and publishers to design custom digital adaptations of board games. The best part? Only the host of the game has to own the DLC and then everyone can play the game.
With any physics sandbox—not to mention digital board games—there are quirks and specific functions that might seem obtuse to the casual user. And that’s where Matt’s video comes into the conversation. He provides quick tips and useful reminders for gamers who are trying to reduce frustrations while using Tabletop Simulator and improve the gaming experience.
So, thanks for the good stuff, Shut Up & Sit Down. Keep it coming.
