If there’s anything gamers can reliably enjoy, it’s blasting the ever-loving hell out of demons of all sorts. DOOM, Diablo, and Devil May Cry are all examples of wildly gratuitous violence against monsters of a demonic variety, and they all have performed extremely well in the past.
With that being said, there’s always room for some fresh meat in the genre. Kwalee, a leading UK games publisher, has announced a deal with three-person UK developer Damage State to bring their blood-soaked first-person shooter Scathe to all major platforms in 2022. Luckily for us, there is already a limited-time demo available as part of the Steam Next Fest, which runs from February 21-28.
You play as Scathe, the Enforcer of the legions of Hell. You must prove your worth by fighting through a deviously crafted maze, fighting grotesque demons at every turn. Use your extreme strength and speed to blast through the entities before you, utilizing your speed to avoid the bullet-hell of projectiles that will be coming your way. As you fight through the maze, you must search for Hellstones and defeat their powerful Guardians if you have any hope of ultimate victory.
Quick reflexes will allow you to dodge enemy attacks, and staying moving will be key to your survival. Featuring heaps of weapons, all with secondary attacks, this hectic-fps will have you covered in demon blood and blasting through the maze in single-player or drop-in cross-platform multiplayer. Beware who you bring, however, as your lives are shared amongst the group.
Scathe has a limited-time demo on Steam. It will release this year on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
