If you’ve seen anything that we’ve been talking about here, you’d know we love Riftbound and we can’t wait for more. And more is exactly what we’re about to get! Riftbound is moving on to their next stage with the new expansion, Spiritforged.
The Rift has always been a place where weapons are more than metal and magic—they’re pieces of your will, your spirit, and your raw, unfiltered power. Spiritforged leans hard into that fantasy with new mechanics, a new theme, and a stacked roster of Legends ready to tear open the veil between realms.
Let’s break down everything we know so far.
What are the new mechanics in Riftbound: Spiritforged?
Spiritforged is designed as a full-power follow-up to Origins, not just adding content but transforming gameplay. Three major mechanics define the set:
Equipment
The biggest mechanical addition. Equipment is a brand-new card subtype that lets you attach items directly to your units. These attachments power up your fighters, turning them into true extensions of your soul. These buffs aren’t temporary either, equipment stays on the battlefield even if the unit holding it dies, meaning strategic setups matter more than ever.
Gold
Draven’s signature resource enters the game. Gold tokens can be “spent” to gain the Power resource—sometimes necessary for playing your stronger cards or playing more expensive cards early. This creates an additional layer of economic planning: Do you cash in early for tempo, or hoard gold for a massive swing later?
Repeat
Some spells in Spiritforged come with Repeat, allowing you to double their effect if you pay the cost again. It’s risk-reward spellcasting—perfect for players who like to push their luck, squeeze extra value, or blow open the board in a single turn.
Are there new card treatments in Riftbound: Spiritforged?
Spiritforged also brings a mystical edge courtesy of the Ionia Spirit Blossom, which has thinned the boundaries between the mortal and spirit worlds. This theme manifests in 12 new Spirit Blossom–themed Overnumbered cards, all dripping with ethereal style and flavor.
These cards feel like they’ve stepped straight out of the Spirit Blossom festival—dreamy, dangerous, and beautiful.
What Legends will be in Riftbound: Spiritforged?
The lineup is looking stacked, and more are expected to be announced. Here are the Legends confirmed to appear in Spiritforged so far:
Irelia
Fiora
Rumble
Ezreal
Lucian
Ornn
Draven
Azir
Yone
Renata Glasc
Sivir
Between weapon masters, inventors, gods, and spiritwalkers, the roster already feels like a warband ready to cut deep into the Rift. Expect even more reveals as we get closer to the Chinese launch. We were right about Ornn, and we’re excited to see who else is revealed.
What are the champion decks for Riftbound: Spiritforged?
Spiritforged will also introduce two new Champion Decks, offering ready-to-play builds that highlight the expansion’s new mechanics and themes. These decks are perfect for players who want to jump right in without building from scratch—or for collectors looking to expand their arsenal with curated lists.
Fiora Champion Deck (Body/Order)
Fiora now has her own Legend card--so if you pulled some in Origins, great! Fiora’s Champion deck description says “This preconstructed 56-card deck is built to strengthen your board with powerful stat boosts, turning your normal units into Mighty combatants. Outmaneuver your opponents with clever combat tricks, gaining you more resources while dueling your way to victory.” So expect Equipment synergies, elegant combat tricks, and a focus on calculated power plays. Orange/Yellow gives this deck a blend of discipline, resilience, and the tactical consistency you’d hope for in a Fiora-centered build.
Rumble Champion Deck (Mind/Fury)
The second champion deck is made for Rumble, whose description says “This preconstructed 56-card deck is built to overpower your opponents, packed with synergistic units and spells.” With Blue/Red, this deck likely highlights resource manipulation, explosive combos, and maybe even some Repeat plays to crank (or overcrank) your effects.
These two decks will be the only Champion Decks launching with Spiritforged, but they already represent two very different playstyles: Fiora’s disciplined precision versus Rumble’s scrappy innovation. A perfect pair for the set’s theme of forging one’s identity through battle.
When Does Spiritforged Release?
February 13th, in English—mark your calendar, set the reminder, tattoo the date on your arm (okay, maybe don’t do that), because the first set was a big hit you’ll have to be quick with Spiritforged.
Final Thoughts
Spiritforged is a big step forward, if we’re being honest I wasn’t expecting new mechanics in the second set. But it seems like they’re rolling forward very quickly so I’m excited to see how quickly this game evolves. This set brings new mechanics that change how decks are built, a mystical theming that embraces the Spirit Blossom’s haunting beauty, and a roster of Legends that reads like a dream draft. If Origins laid the groundwork for Riftbound, Spiritforged is here to ignite the forge.
We’ll have more updates as more reveals drop. For now… sharpen your blades, strengthen your soul, and prepare to step into the Rift like never before.
