Will legacy instrument controllers work on Stage Tour?
RedOctane Games has confirmed that modern instrument controllers such as CRKD guitars, the Riffmaster, and Rock Band 4 instruments will be natively compatible with Stage Tour. Legacy hardware from the Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, and even PS2 era may work, but will most likely require adapters.
How does Stage Tour’s gameplay work?
Similar to Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, Stage Tour is a rhythm-action game. Players, with instrument controllers in hand, will be tasked with playing incoming notes as they pass through a target line, which aligns with what the real recorded instrument is playing.
Each instrument can be played in four core difficulty modes: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. Note density, chord usage, and overall complexity will escalate the higher the difficulty chosen, with up to five different playable buttons (Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Orange). Drums also feature Expert+, which heavily features the double kick drum in compatible songs.
Players can play the following instruments in Stage Tour:
Lead: most prominently heard instruments leading the melody. Typically, guitar, but can also be keys, synths, and other instruments of the kind.
Groove: the complement to Lead. Groove instruments are part of the backing track. Bass is the main instrument, but Groove also encompasses rhythm guitar, keys, and synths, among others.
Drums: with drumsticks in hand, players will hit four drum pads and step on the kick pedal. Cymbal notes are introduced in Pro Drums and, as said above, Expert+ enables double kick drum patterns.
Vocals: while singing to a microphone, players will be judged based on their pitch accuracy and timing.
Arcade: players will get the chance to play instrument parts with gamepad controllers or keyboards. A single notechart will feature a variety of instruments while playing Arcade, which features two sub-difficulties: Arcade 4-Lane uses Green, Red, Blue, and Orange notes, while Arcade 5-Lane adds the Yellow note, hittable with two different buttons.
What are Stage Tour’s modes?
Stage Tour will feature four core modes available at launch, in addition to Practice Mode.
Quickplay: the traditional classic mode. Pick a song and play it with your instrument of choice.
Judgements: similar to Quickplay but with a twist. Judgements will feature an accuracy-based scoring system, which will assign a score to each successfully played note (Perfect, Great, Good, and Okay). Players can earn a maximum score of 1,000,000.
Karaoke: a casual singing mode. Karaoke removes the originally recorded vocals for a non-failure performance of the available songs. Pitch will not be judged, only timing.
Tour: a roguelite 5-fret gameplay experience. Players will embark on a tour during which they can select specific Effects Pedals for upgrades and buffs. These can be purchased in the Store by spending your acquired Stars, determined by song performance.
What is Stage Tour’s setlist?

Who is developing Stage Tour?
Stage Tour is being developed by the newly formed RedOctane Games, which is composed of former members of the RedOctane, Neversoft, and Harmonix teams. The studio works under the Freemode division of Embracer Group.
Will Stage Tour have early access?
While an exact date has yet to be announced, RedOctane Games has confirmed that a closed beta will happen in September. Players will need to sign up for Stage Tour’s email list to be notified when the beta and closed Alpha playtests will become available.
