It’s here, it’s finally here. We have finally received a reveal trailer for a new Evil Dead game. Evil Dead: The Game will mark the return of the beloved franchise to the game industry. For years we’ve heard rumors surrounding a new title, even from Ash Williams himself, Bruce Campbell. Up to this point, it’s been a toss-up as to what kind of game this would actually be. Most of the older games followed a more hack ‘n slash formula but there wasn’t too much spoken about the actual gameplay besides Campbell’s statement regarding it possibly being an immersive experience. During this year’s The Game Awards, Evil Dead: The Game was finally unveiled with a stellar reveal trailer.
The trailer has all of the trimmings you’d want and expect from a true Evil Dead video game. Campbell has a voice-over that gives a bit of a refresher to the events of the films. During the voice-over, we get to see the deadites, the cabin, Ash’s car, and a character from every point of the franchise’s past, including Kelly from the Ash Vs Evil Dead Starz series. There doesn’t seem to be any gameplay footage as of yet but I’d expect to see some in early 2021. It’s being marketed as a co-op and Pvp game so it’s up in the air as to whether this is all going to take place solely at the cabin or not. It also begs the question of whether it’s going to be first or third-person. As I said, Campbell stated that it’s immersive.
While Evil Dead: The Game’s release date is yet to be announced, it has been confirmed that it will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
