Journey To Svartalfheim In ASSASSIN’S CREED VALHALLA: DAWN OF RAGNORAK

Dawn of Ragnarök, the upcoming expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, got a huge new trailer today that shows off more of the environments, gameplay options, and story players will experience when Dawn of Ragnarök releases next month. The new expansion takes place in the Dwarven realm of Svartalfheim as Odin seeks to rescue his son, Baldr, from his Fire Giant captors.

Odin must travel to Svartalfheim after Baldr is captured by Muspels, giants that hail from the fiery land of Muspelheim. When he arrives in the realm of the Dwarves, though, he finds that the natural inhabitants have all fled underground to avoid the invading forces of both Jotunheim and Muspelheim. At the head of this force is Surtr, the king of the Muspels and the giant prophesied to destroy Asgard.

But Odin isn’t without tricks of his own, and the Dwarves bestow upon him a powerful relic known as the Hugr-Rip that will allow him to steal the power of his enemies for his own use. This unlocks new, supernatural abilities for players like the ability to teleport or master elemental damage types. Odin can even raise the spirits of slain enemies to fight at his side.

Dawn of Ragnarök will also feature new, mythical armor and weapons for players to acquire, and they can be upgraded along with the Hugr-Rip to deal more damage and unlock new powers. The Dwarven shelters where Odin upgrades his weapons will also be where the Norse god can find new allies in his campaign against the giants.

The expansion will also have new boss battles against mythical foes and a new, horde-type challenge known as the Valkyrie Trials. These will see Odin face off against waves of enemies who are seeking death by combat so that they might ascend to the halls of Valhalla.

The final revelation from this deep dive trailer is how the story of Dawn of Ragnarök will connect Eivor, Odin, and the Isu. While no concrete information is offered, it’s clear that Dawn of Ragnarök will have a significant impact on Eivor’s life and shed light on the bond she shares with the king of the Norse pantheon.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarök will launch on March 10th, 2022, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Luna, and PC via the Epic Games Store, Steam, and the Ubisoft Store.
