A TV adaptation of the original source material doesn’t sit well without the creator’s involvement. One of the writers for Life Is Strange revealed that he and other creators of the 2015 game are not involved with the Amazon Prime Video show.
According to IGN, Christian Devine, who wrote the first two Life Is Strange titles, reacted to Amazon MGM Studios’ post on X (formerly Twitter) announcing the Life Is Strange TV series being greenlit last Friday by quote-tweeting, “The only people not involved are the creators.” He implied that Amazon MGM Studios nor Amazon proper didn’t acknowledge him or anyone else at Don’t Nod when the show was announced. For reference, the show is being written by Charlie Covell, who will also serve as executive producer.
Based on Divine’s revelation, the Life Is Strange TV series is the second Prime Video adaptation to not include its original creators as writers or other roles in its production after Fallout. Since Life Is Strange revolves around teenage girls, some consultation from the game’s writers about Max and Chloe’s behavior would be helpful. Otherwise, the show will flop. At least The Last Of Us had help from Neil Druckmann and his crew at Naughty Dog.
