One of the last Corrupted Gate bosses you’ll likely face in Mortal Shell 2 is a bug man named Sir Isaac, the Scholar Prince. Starting with just a shield and a sword, this prince is out for blood and will be a tough opponent to beat. If you’re stuck trying to get past Sir Isaac, don’t worry, as we’ll help you defeat this tough foe in Mortal Shell 2.
Sir Isaac boss guide in Mortal Shell 2
You can defeat Sir Isaac, the Scholar Prince, in Mortal Shell 2 by carefully parrying his sword attacks or by executing perfect dodges with the Tiel Shell. Tiel’s Shadow Dodge has remained useful since the very start of the game, and I highly recommend using it during this fight.
During the first half, have the Lazlo Summon take aggro off of you to give you time to prep your weapon or sidearm using Tarstones. I always coat my Forgotten Crossbow with fire so it burns my enemies.
Sir Isaac doesn’t have any fancy attack patterns, as he’s your typical sword fighter. He’s not super fast either, so you have plenty of time to read his attacks if you want to parry them. He’ll typically swing two to three times in succession before pausing for a moment to resume his attacks.
If he’s not on the ground, he’ll fly in the air and prepare to swing down at you. This attack is a good one to dodge, and if you’re Tiel, you can get a Shadow Strike in while he has no idea where you are.
Once you stagger him at around half health, he’ll ditch his shield to wield two extra swords for the rest of the fight. These are a lot tougher to parry since he doesn’t use all three swords for one single swing; Sir Isaac will typically swing them all in quick succession, leaving you open to the other swings even if you parry the first.
The red warning will pop up when you cannot parry the attack, and it’s when he rushes you with a forceful stab. Wait until he gets close, then dodge to the side.
Sir Isaac also has an annoying attack where he follows you and continues to stab the ground at your feet. Each attack hits at the same rhythm until the very last one, where he waits a little longer in the air before striking. It’s typically the sixth strike where he tries to trip you up, so time it correctly to not get hurt.
Finally, at really low health, he’ll try one last move where he spins in a circle and swings diagonally around five times before twirling rapidly at you with the final sixth strike. This one can be avoided by dodging to the left with every attack, staying close to him with each dodge.
Mortal Shell 2 is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
