The Tarforge in Mortal Shell 2 allows you to upgrade weapons and Tarstones. It’s an easy-to-miss room in the Marrow Keep, but it’s vital for improving your build as you play the game further and enemies get tougher. Unfortunately, the Tarforge is broken, but there is a way to repair it in Mortal Shell 2. Here’s how it’s done.
How to repair the Tarforge in Mortal Shell 2
You can repair the Tarforge in Mortal Shell 2 by giving Franz, the Tarforge Smith, a Muradean Actuator. To get a Muradean Actuator, you’ll have to reach and cleanse the Village Outskirts Beacon. This is the first Beacon you come across in the game, so by now, you should already have it.
If you don’t have it yet, the Muradean Actuator is in a chest you can open immediately when you enter the Beacon to cleanse it. It’s hard to miss, so you may already have the item if you’ve made it to Marrow Keep.
Don’t fret if you’ve missed this chest, because once you find enough Ovum in the Marrow Keep, you’ll eventually unlock the ability to fast travel. This will allow you to revisit the Village Outskirts Beacon and claim the Muradean Actuator.
Speak to Franz, who is at the Tarforge in one of the far-off rooms of the Marrow Keep, and select “Give Muradean Actuator.” This will repair the Tarforge, allowing you to upgrade your weapons.
Note: If you want to upgrade Tarstones, you’ll need to find the Etching Needles and give them to Franz. You’ll come across Etching Needles in a chest after entering the Mushroom Village’s Corrupted Gate. The chest is just near the crow before the Magdalena boss fight and is nearly impossible to miss.
Mortal Shell 2 is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
