Ocarina of Time: How to Get Scarecrow’s Song

Making scarecrows dance might be the most nightmarish sight for many, but for those Ocarina of Time veterans, scarecrows only mean one thing: goodies are nearby and up for grabs. Here is how to get the Scarecrow’s Song in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake.

How to get the Scarecrow’s Song in Ocarina of Time

The Scarecrow’s Song, similar to the Sun’s Song, is an optional tune you can unlock in Ocarina of Time. It will, however, open a whole lot of possibilities and pathways, such as items and Heart Pieces. So, if you want to 100% the game, then learning the Scarecrow’s Song is a must.

As such, travel all the way to Lake Hylia as Young Link, located on the south side of Hyrule Field.

There, you will find two different Scarecrows: Pierre and Bonooru. Bring out your ocarina and play an 8-note tune of your creation. That will become the Scarecrow’s Song in the future, so make it memorable (I chose to perform Majora’s Mask’s Song of Healing).

Return to Lake Hylia once you become Adult Link. Bonooru is eager to hear your tune once again, so perform it as you did seven years earlier. If done correctly, you will officially learn the Scarecrow’s Song.

How it works is straightforward: at certain spots across the world, you will find wisps of straw. This indicates that Pierre, the travelling Scarecrow, can be summoned. Play the Scarecrow’s Song, and he will gladly appear.

Once he does, use your Hookshot/Longshot to grapple onto him, reaching previously inaccessible areas. You can put this to the test almost immediately, as the Fishing Pond features one of these spots. Summon Pierre, use the Hookshot, and be sure to get a fish larger than 60 cm to get the Golden Scale.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
