Ocarina of Time: How to Get Lenses of Truth

Hyrule hides many secrets behind what appears to be a whimsical and heartwarming shell. Peeking into the evil, disturbing, and horrible core of what the world is made of is not a task for the faint-hearted. If you’re ready to unveil what the naked eye is incapable of seeing, here is how to get the Lenses of Truth in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake.

How to get the Lenses of Truth in Ocarina of Time

For all Ocarina of Time veterans, you might think the item’s name is wrong. Well, not really. This time around, the original Lens of Truth has changed, but not the manner in which the item is obtained.

Progress through the game, become Adult Link, get the Hookshot, and learn the Song of Storms. You will find a crazed Phonogram Man playing the tune. Bring out your ocarina and learn the song (L-R-X-L-R-X).

Travel back in time and, as Young Link, perform the Song of Storms to a much saner Phonogram Man. This will dry the well, opening up the way to the Lenses of Truth.

The Bottom of the Well is one of the most eerie places in Ocarina of Time. You can choose to explore the zone for Golden Skulltulas while you’re here.

If you want to get out as fast as possible, then all you need to do is walk north. Walk through the invisible wall at the entrance and travel all the way to the frog statue, which is spewing water from its mouth.

Stand on top of the Triforce on the ground and play Zelda’s Lullaby (Y-X-A-Y-X-A). The water will stop flowing. Crawl through the hole on the lower level now that the water is no longer blocking it, go through the door, and fall before you reach a chest.

You’ll now be in a foggy room, but you’re not alone. A Dead Hand is waiting for you. Walk forward, and one of Dead Hand’s hands will pop up. If it grabs you, Dead Hand will appear and attempt to munch on your flesh.

Instead, dodge the hands and slash them with your sword until they disappear. Dead Hand will appear and try to put an end to you. Wait for its head to lower and hit it with your best; even some bombs could deal massive damage.

Eventually, Dead Hand will drop, well, dead. A chest will appear, and inside you will find the Lenses of Truth. Instead of the magnifying-glass appearance of the original Lens of Truth, the Lenses of Truth are a pair of goggles.

The way they work is identical, however. Equip them to use your magic and reveal what is hidden. You will see through false doors and floors, spot invisible enemies, and even cheat through a certain chest-opening minigame in Hyrule Castle Town.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
