It’s finally happening; PlayStation is having a showcase. Announced via Twitter with an associated blog post this new showcase will feature “updates from PlayStation Studios and industry-leading devs.” According to the blog post, the showcase will run for about 40 minutes and focus on games releasing “this holiday and beyond.”

While PlayStation will still see a swath of big releases throughout the rest of this year many of their first-party titles originally scheduled for 2021 have been delayed into next year, including Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War. The blog post does note that we won’t be seeing anything on PlayStation’s update to their VR headset, stressing that this showcase is about games.

This announcement comes after months of rumors about a potential broadcast from the publisher. The last PlayStation State of Play was in July and focused primarily on a third-party exclusive, Deathloop, so fans have been expecting something first-party focused for a while now. There’s no confirmation on what games will be present at the showcase other than it including first-party and some third-party developed titles.

Gamers won’t have to wait much longer as the PlayStation Showcase 2021 will go live in just one week on Thursday, September 9th at 4PM EDT/1PM PDT on both YouTube and Twitch.
