Maestro (Switch 2)
Taking an already excellent VR game and moving it to a Nintendo console was not on my bingo card this year, and I'd have bet against it working. I'd have lost that bet. Maestro on Switch 2 ended up being one of the best things I've played in 2026, which is a sentence I'm still slightly surprised to be typing.
It's polished, it's fun, and somehow it's lost almost none of the immersion that made the VR version special. Waving a Joy-Con at an orchestra shouldn't feel this good. It does!
One of the best surprises as of late and this should be a no-brainer purchase for ANY Switch/Switch 2 owner.
WARDOGS (PC Early Access Review So Far)
I suck at this game. There, I said it. Still in Early Access and already a massive hit, WARDOGS keeps being a pleasant surprise. The mechanics are solid, the gameplay loop is the kind that has you queuing up again before you've decided to, and the whole package is far more polished than Early Access usually means.
One problem, and it's a big one: cheaters. Nothing kills a tactical shooter faster than losing a careful, patient round to someone who can see through walls. The devs need to get on top of this immediately, because everything else here deserves a chance to grow.
Trivia Murder Party 3 (PC Early Access Review So Far)
Another Early Access title that's already hitting hard. The customization options are genuinely good, and the humor is pure Jackbox, which means your friends will be yelling at the screen within ten minutes.
I love a solid party game and the folks at Jackbox have been doing it right for decades. I still remember firing up their first title back on Windows 95! Yeah, I’m that old. Deal with it.
This is one to keep an eye on. If it's this much fun now, the finished version should be something special at game nights.
CRISIS CORE –FINAL FANTASY VII– REUNION (Switch 2)
Can we ever get enough Final Fantasy VII?! Apparently not and Square Enix is gonna make darn sure this never happens. For the title at hand, this is a great way to play a great game. The HD remaster of every visual makes a real difference, but the fully voiced dialogue and reworked soundtrack arrangements are what turn this into something more than a fresh coat of paint. It feels like a proper retelling of a classic rather than a lazy port.
If you've been waiting for a reason to go back to Zack's story, or you never played it the first time, it's on sale on Switch 2 right now. Easy recommendation.
2027 brings us more FFVII goodness but for now, enjoy CRISIS.
NASCAR 26 (PC)
I tend to dabble in Racing games here and there but overall, NASCAR is not really my jam. Going in circles at high speed has never been how I like to spend an evening. But after getting a chance to try NASCAR 2025 on PC, I walked away more impressed than I expected to be. The graphics are the headline here, and they're stunning, especially if your rig can handle the higher settings. Racing fans with a high-end PC should absolutely take a look.
NASCAR fans I am sure will gladly eat this up as they should. For newcomers or skeptics, you can definitely relish in the gorgeous graphics and impressive tech side of the house.
