Sony Reveals New RESIDENT EVIL Movie Coming Summer 2023

Sony Pictures Entertainment is releasing a brand new CG Resident Evil movie this summer! Resident Evil: Death Island will feature the return of the three iconic heroes of the franchise; Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine. Check out the official summary of the movie below:

D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit. Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.

The Resident Evil franchise is no stranger to film with a whopping 11 movies and one Netflix series. Some would argue that Resident Evil thrives in a CG setting, with the latest CG movie released nearly two years ago on Netflix, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. With the overall hostile reception toward the recent Netflix series, it is nice to see that Hollywood has not given up on the franchise. I hope Leon is portrayed as a hardened and experienced warrior, as opposed to the guns-blazing, John Wick superhero with cheezy one-liners.

It is going to be great to see the famous trio on screen and hopefully, this will be a sign that the franchise is alive and well in the cinema field.

Resident Evil: Death Island is releasing this summer 2023. We will be sure to give more updates as they are revealed.
